"I think music in of itself is healing. It is an explosive expression of humanity. It is something we are all touched by. No matter what culture we're from, everyone loves music."        - Billy Joel

Drumming

Drumming is an essential part of day-to-day activities in Yoruba culture. The music of the Yoruba people of Nigeria and Benin are best known for an extremely advanced drumming tradition. Yoruba drumming and folk music became a prominent kind of West African music in Afro-Latin and Caribbean musical styles.

Whether playing the drum in the traditional manner of praising the listeners of their ancestors, or simply playing for amusements at festivals, naming parties or birthday parties, the drummer has the ability to touch the hearts of all who hear his music.

Classes are available for children and adults.
